How the Unicorn Said Goodbye
"How the Unicorn Said Goodbye is a gentle book about a difficult lesson: the loss of someone dear. Although it is a tale about unicorns, it speaks to all of life, including that of human beings. It is about the transmission of wisdom from elders to the young, the sharing of experiences within and across generations, the necessary solitary retreat of grief, the solace of happy memories, the healing power of abiding friendship, and, with the passage of time, the unfolding of joy from sorrow. With beautiful illustrations and a captivating story, this book contains a consoling and hopeful message for both young and old about the preciousness of this life, from birth to death, and beyond."

How the Unicorn Got His Horn Back
What happens when you start thinking you're better than everyone else? What happens when you lose the most important thing you possess? What happens when you get in a situation and you are in over your head?
How the Unicorn Got His Horn Back is a delightful picture story for children about a unicorn named Cally, who has wonderful friends and adventures. He gets so caught up in admiring himself that he thinks he is better than everyone else and becomes a bully. Cally ends up losing his most prized possession as a result, his beloved unicorn horn. Just saying "sorry" won't get it back. He has to change his ways and earn his horn back. He must do good deeds and find the deeds on his own. Will Cally get his golden horn back? This is a tale of vanity, bullying, consequences, bravery, discovery, and redemption. Cally realizes that what he thought was his most prized possession isn't as important as what is on the inside.
Sea Shoes
Sea Shoes is the charming children's story about the travels of a pair of shoes.
A little boy and his father are walking on the beach when the boy decides to walk barefoot. Suddenly, his shoes are swept out to sea and the shoes begin an amazing journey. Many animals find the shoes and attempt to use them. A starfish cannot fit them on his arm. Dolphins play with them, but cannot ring them on their fins. The octopus cannot eat them. A walrus cannot fit them on his tusk, and they don't fit a polar bear's paws. The shoes travel through beautiful lagoons, stormy seas, shipping lanes, and icy waters. When a family of whales happens upon them, they make up a magical song about the adventure.
Many years later, a man and his young son are walking on the beach. The man remembers when he used to walk there with his father. The shoes wash up on the shore, and the little boy is thrilled to find that they fit him perfectly. Explore the magic and mystery of the sea, as the Sea Shoes travel to all the beautiful places the world has to offer. This timeless tale tells of the love between parent and child, the sharing of dreams, and how the family circle is completed.

This book is great on several levels and for many ages of kids (including me!) You can see the authors love of New Mexico in her words and the artwork is beautiful. It will hold even young ones attention. The story is also written for, and will speak volumes to older kids too. Nice book.
